DO I NEED TO WATCH MY DWI VIDEO?

Often times clients do not want to watch their DWI videos for a variety of reasons. However, there is no reason for a person not to watch their videos. I always require clients to view it. It is important for the client and the lawyer to be on the same page with the evidence that will be relevant for the case. A review will afford the client the opportunity to explain and give more context to facts in the video and those contained in the police officer's offense report. Further the client's appearance on the DWI videos will often be the most important piece of evidence to consider in determining whether to accept a plea bargain or go to trial. Texas implemented the use of cameras and videotaping roadside DWI investigations for many reasons. Videos have no bias or prejudice, they simply show what happened. Further, it protects both the citizen as much as law enforcement against false claims. The only negative is that often there are delays in the case due to delays in the prosecutor producing the videos.
